Graduates in hunt for low-qualification government jobs

University graduates are scrambling for government jobs that only require a secondary education, Ming Pao Daily reports. Candidates with a degree or above made up between 10 and 20 per cent of 44,500 applications for clerical assistant jobs - which require a Form Four qualification. Candidates are fighting to fill about 400 vacancies. 


Ali plans small business 'talent bank' on mainland  

Ali-Institute, the training organisation affiliated with Alibaba.com, will invest 50 million yuan to build the first "talent bank for small businesses" on the mainland, China Daily reports. The decision was made to nurture e-commerce professionals and promote the employment of university graduates. Deng Kangming, vice-president of Alibaba and general manager of the institute, says the organisation plans to train nearly 50,000 e-business individuals in two years.


Mexico targets office obesity

Mexico City government has rolled out a "get moving and tighten your belt" programme to tackle obesity among its employees. The initiative, piloted in the finance ministry, will expand to all of the city's ministries. All government staff must do 10 minutes of daily exercises. Overweight workers have to complete an hour of exercise each working day in an office converted into a workout space. AFP
