Whether you're a fresh graduate or in the early stages of your career, social media can play an important role in your job hunt. Job seekers must exercise their best networking skills to reap its benefits.

Your information should be true, complete, and up-to-date Make sure your profile picture is "wholesome". 

Hong Kong's a small place You can use LinkedIn to search for jobs, recruiters and company data. Ask recruiters if they'd be open to an informational interview. LinkedIn can help you to showcase your skills and can provide recruiters with immediate references via "recommendations". 

Use Facebook and Twitter to connect This is an easy way for you to remind people that you're actively looking for a job, and that you'd appreciate any advice or introductions. 

Party and privacy If your Facebook page screams "likes to party", make sure you've updated your privacy settings or spell your name backwards to make it difficult for people to search for you. Deactivating your "Wall" may also be advisable during your job hunt. 

Produce content, don't just consume Start a blog on your expertise and interests. Create a website cum online showroom of your portfolio. This can be an extension to your resume.
