BDO

In addition to experienced management, young BDO professionals are on hand at the CPA Australia Career Expo to share their experiences.

Angela Wong, director of human resources at BDO, says that enabling expo participants to meet and talk to young accountants in their first year with the firm - as well as veterans - provides insights. "We thought this would be good to introduce fresh graduates to real accounting."

Wong says the expo serves as a convenient one-stop event where BDO can combine brand promotion with human resources initiatives and recruitment objectives through face-to-face meetings with a pool of local and overseas graduates.

"In addition to listening to fresh graduates' career aspirations and sharing our views on career development, we wish to explain the importance of the culture of support and caring in our organisation," says Wong.

She says that BDO - which has more than 1,000 employees in Hong Kong, and is a member of BDO International - provides training in a wide range of professional and soft skills to help fresh recruits to become fully fledged CPA professionals.

Wong adds that the firm also offers employee support benefits that are unique to the CPA industry, such as BDO's "flex policy" which enables staff to take temporary breaks from work for personal reasons.

In addition, BDO provides birthday, marriage and compassionate leave, and in support of continuing education, it grants "ceremony leave".

The company also offers study leave, so that employees can take time off before sitting exams.
