The percentage of young people in Hong Kong, aged 20 to 24, who are unemployed has risen to 12.1 per cent from last year, Ming Pao reports. Latest government figures show that 32,800 people in the age group are out of work. Chan Yuen-shing, of the New Territories Association Retraining Centre which this week co-organised a job fair, says young people should not be too choosy.

Sex pests at their worst in India

One in 10 workers has been pestered for sex by a senior employee, a Reuters/Ipsos global poll has found. The survey of about 12,000 people in 24 countries found that workers in India were most likely to report sexual harassment, with a report rate of 26 per cent. This was followed by the mainland, with 18 per cent. Reuters

Mainlanders prefer to work at state-owned enterprises

State-owned enterprises have overtaken foreign-owned companies to become the first choice for employment among this year's mainland graduates, China Daily reports. According to a survey by ChinaHR, which polled 200,000 students from more than 700 universities, 33 state-owned enterprises were included among the top 50 best employers. Only four foreign firms were on the list, down from 21 last year. China Mobile is the first choice for employees, followed by Alibaba, Haier and Microsoft China.
