Five university graduates to clean up Jinan

Almost 400 university graduates in Jinan, Shandong, applied for five jobs to dispose of faeces and sanitise the area, Ming Pao reports. In Jinan there are many toilets with no flushing system installed, and the disposal of faeces has to be done manually. The local government job pays 3,000 yuan (HK$3,404) a month. Zhang Ting, one of the five who was trained in accounting, says it is "impossible" to find work that matches what she studied.


One in four staff feel more loyal

More than one in four employees feel more loyal to their employer as a result of the financial crisis, China Daily reports. According to a survey by employment firm Kelly Services, which polled about 134,000 people in 29 countries, 27 per cent of the respondents said the recession made them feel more loyal to their company, while 10 per cent felt less so. For 63 per cent of those surveyed, it made no difference.


Young migrants in Beijing offered training to upgrade skills

As many as 12,000 young migrants from rural areas in Beijing will be given the chance to upgrade their skills, China Daily reports. The China Communist Youth League Beijing Committee and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security will offer training to migrant workers who were born in the 1980s and 1990s. Training will be available in industries with a strong demand for migrant workers, including construction, housekeeping and catering.
