Members of HKU's Karate Club are throwing a birthday dinner for highly decorated karate master Cheung Shiu-kwong this month. The seasoned instructor has represented Hong Kong at numerous international events and regularly provides the club with advice and training. August 24, 7pm-11pm. HKU club to host tour of campus attractions and three-day freshmen orientation camp  

The University of Hong Kong's (HKU) Social Sciences Society is hosting a tour of campus hotspots for freshmen this week. This will later be followed by a three-day orientation camp mid-month, during which new students can make friends and gain insights on the ins and outs of college life. PolyU's multidisciplinary engineering course  

Engineering society members are invited to attend this month's information session on Polytechnic University's master's degree in Engineering Business Management programme. PolyU, known for its practical inventions (below right), is offering the multidisciplinary course in collaboration with Britain's University of Warwick. August 20, 2.30pm-4pm. Rotaract Club to honour new officers  

To mark the appointment of this year's new officers, the Rotaract Club of Hong Kong is hosting a celebratory dinner, during which group members will be entertained with short talks and games. The club, which has chapters in campuses across Hong Kong - including HKU and PolyU - follows the service ideals of Rotary International.
