The "Hong Kong Women's NGO Forum: Working with CEDAW", set for May 7, aims to bring together local activists, researchers and frontline non-governmental organisations to discuss how to improve the lives of women who still face discrimination. The event is organised by the Women's Studies Research Centre, the Emerging Strategic Research Theme on Diversity Studies, the Centre for Comparative and Public Law, University of Hong Kong (HKU), and the Hong Kong Federation of Women's Centres. Medical forum at HKU

Medical practitioners and students who want to stay abreast in their field should not miss the 16th Hong Kong Medical Forum on May 7-8, organised by the HKU's department of medicine (below). The forum will feature distinguished local and overseas speakers, interactive workshops and an exhibition of the latest technology available. Author tackles China issues

The British Chamber Of Commerce has invited Giles Chance - author of China and the Credit Crisis and visiting professor at the Guanghua School of Business at Peking University - to give an update on the mainland's economic development. He will also speak on the world economy in the wake of the credit crisis. The event will be held on May 4 from 8am to 9.15am at the Hong Kong Club.
