Preview new books at HK book fair

Now in its 22nd year, the Hong Kong Book Fair (below) organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council will allow booklovers to preview new editions, meet writers and expand their libraries. 20-21 July, 10am-10pm; 22-23 July, 10am-midnight; 24-25 July 10am-10pm; 26 July, 9am-5pm. Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai. Fees are HK$25 for adults and HK$10 for children. Unlimited entry for HK$80. Visit for fair details.

Canadian leads HKU seminar on diversity in higher education  

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will host a seminar - "Can diversity in higher education be maintained under the pressure of global rankings?" - with Ruth Hayhoe, president emerita of the Hong Kong Institute of Education. A professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, she will explore developments in Chinese higher education over the past 12 years. 19 July, 10.30-11.45am. Conference on minimum wage

HR professionals should not miss the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management's timely minimum wage conference on "Coping with the Minimum Wage Ordinance in its First 80 Days". 19 July, 9.30am-5.20pm. Ballroom, 1/F Harbour Grand HK Hotel, 23 Oil Street, North Point. Full-day programme fees are HK$2,180 (non-members) and $1680 (members).
