For the 21st-century road warrior, LinkedIn is the closest thing to having your own army of travelling social secretaries. The handy application allows for mobile access to your LinkedIn account, and by extension, your entire list of business contacts, complete with their employment history, educational background and everything they’re sharing online.
It’s the perfect tool for when you’re on your way to a meeting, and – thanks to the addition of a Bluetooth contact-sharing function – is also great for face-to-face networking.
Similar to Facebook’s mobile platform, LinkedIn employs the use of a three-by-three control panel, which can be set to one of 12 colours to suit your mood or personality. What’s more, the program also offers a built-in browser, which saves the user from having to load Safari when clicking on web links.
While the initial release lacked the stability and elegance of other social networking apps, last month’s update more than makes up for lost ground.
LinkedIn is currently only available for the iPhone, but Android users can still get their hands on a beta version by visiting m.linkedin.com/android with their mobile device.
