Time to change ?

I have just work at my current company for 9 months but now I am planning to leave. The reason is 1, last year, since the economy is not good or very bad, I asked a quite low salary and the company did not made any increment last year too. 2, i find the career path in the company is narrow. A small broker firm with each department consists only 4 to 6 staff. My upper management is young and i don't think they will open any new post for promotions. What I concern is: Is it not good to change job so frequent? But many of my friends advise me to change since now the job market is turning hot. I am graduate from local university and have over 2 years in Finance industry. 1.5 years in Bank and others in broker firm.

Adopting your thinking and philosophy small companies like mine with altogether a handful of staff can never employ and retain any staff? And, no one would quit or change jobs in their entire career but work for one company only till they die like the Japanese?

Come on, job after job can you tell me what skills have you acquired? You want an increment/promotion? You don't need to wait till the company expands or someone retires, you just need to work the best you can and contribute to the success of your team/department/company, you're so good that they can't afford to lose you, even in the end the management/company failed to compensate you well, there'll sure be opportunities queueing up waiting for you, right?

The earlier you wake up, the better!

I think you should change job in order to open up horizons to yourself. Otherwise, you will not be able to know how you fare and where you stand!

Hi Derek,
I think you may stay until nearly 1 year to leave would be more acceptable. Frankly talking, leaving frequently may let boss easy to concern your stability. Usually, people always concern career path development. 9 months is not a long time, you can stay here to gain more related experience. After almost 1 year, you can search more better working environment and well-offered working conditions.
Hope you'll success in the future~
