Based in Singapore, Sembawang employs about 50 people in Hong Kong and has vacancies for more than 30 professionals, ranging from civil engineers, project managers and site agents, to quantity surveyors and graduate engineers.
Sembawang is one of those rare companies looking for the less conventional attributes in people - those who are curious and enthusiastic, ready to try and dare to fail.
"Nothing great can be achieved without a tinge of calculated risk," says Alexandria Tsang, assistant vice-president of projects, Sembawang Hong Kong, part of the Punj Lloyd Group and one of the largest engineering and construction firms in Southeast Asia.
Communication, as well as interpersonal and analytical skills are highly valued in the company, as is team work.
"[Staff are] united by the will to be the best that they can be. They form a pillar of strength for Punj Lloyd and we encourage our employees by providing opportunities to travel overseas, contribute to prestigious international undertakings, learn from industry experts and fully realise their own potential," Tsang says. "We are a global company and our offices around the world are always looking for the right people to join their team."
She says her staff aspire to achieve something great in their lives, not just to develop a career but also add value to whatever they do.
