Expecting continued steady growth in a vibrant local real estate market, Centaline Property Agency intends to hire at least 200 new employees to cope with demand.
In particular, it is looking for salespeople and estate agents with professional licences. Candidates without a licence from the Estate Agents Authority can apply, instead, for sales trainee positions.
"We offer classroom training to prepare staff for professional examinations," says Bonnie Lai, the human resources manager. "Usually, it takes about three to four months to get the licence, after which they are allowed to handle property transactions."
The company's priority is to find people with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. Anyone taken on will have promising career prospects in view of the company's policy of promoting from within, and ample advancement opportunities.
"We are different from other types of retail businesses," Lai says. "Our clients invest large sums of money in their properties and, usually, it takes more time to close a deal. Therefore, our colleagues must have an optimistic mindset, which is an important factor for career success."
Lai suggests candidates do sufficient research on the market, the company, and the nature of the job before their interview. Applicants without a licence, especially fresh graduates, are advised to start studying for examinations before joining the company.
"Qualified employees can move up to branch manager with the responsibility of leading a sales team," Lai says.
