City Telecom knows that future corporate leaders will have to handle rapid changes and market challenges, and is, therefore, looking for high-calibre candidates to join its "CXO" management trainee programme.
"We understand that as long as we add the right people to our team, in future they will be able to lead the organisation in the right direction and help in achieving our audacious goals," says Carrie Wong, the company's manager for talent management.
The hunt is on for individuals who are passionate about improving Hong Kong and its people's lives. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree and up to two years' work experience. Applicants must have a dynamic personality, a strong desire to learn, possess initiative and a will to succeed.
The aim of the training programme is to combine classroom instruction on theoretical aspects of the business with on-the-job learning.
Along the way, there are job rotations and opportunities to run projects, take business trips, be involved in executive meetings, and attend the annual financial presentation.
After the initial 18-month period, recruits follow a career path that can lead from assistant store manager to positions in regional management, heading store operations and taking charge of marketing initiatives. At times, they may shadow the chairman or CEO, and will have senior colleagues as mentors.
The search process involves several stages and takes two to three months. Shortlisted candidates have to complete an overnight Outward Bound challenge as part of the final selection round.
