The job market for Hong Kong graduates continues to improve, Wen Wei Po reports. According to the Joint Institution Job Information System, 3,272 positions were available from March to last month, an increase of 72 per cent from the same period last year. The median income was HK$10,000, an increase of 10 per cent from last year.

Americans fight the flab

One-third of American companies have introduced, or are in the process of launching, incentives to encourage overweight staff to lose weight, Apple Daily reports. OhioHealth, for example, awards a maximum of US$500 to staff who walk the most. But research by Cornell University of seven companies shows that their employees have lost less than one pound as a result of taking part in such activities. 

Disabled face unemployment

The likelihood of landing a job is low for Beijing's disabled, despite news that as many as 87,000 are employed, China Daily reports. The Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation says that, while the number may seem high, the capital's disabled population stands at 990,000, which puts the percentage of those employed at just 11 per cent.
