The mainland was the guest of honour this year at the 13th annual Greek International Fair on Education and Career in Athens.

Thirty-five Chinese universities and the Chinese Scholarship Council were among the more than 200 exhibitors from 10 countries at the event, which finished on Sunday, at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.

The fair is the biggest in Greece. The event offered visitors information on educational programmes of public and private universities for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, seminars and general lifelong learning. Low quality jobs can be more harmful for you than if you are unemployed

Working in a job marked by low control, high demands, complexity and the perception of unfair pay may lead to worse mental health than being unemployed, an Australian study says.

People in the least satisfying jobs saw their mental health drop the most over time, the study said. The number of unfavourable factors in working conditions was directly linked to the mental health of the study's participants. The study used data gathered over seven years from 7,155 households in an annual Australian survey. Bloomberg

Teens from poor families less likely to drink

While poverty is usually associated with greater health risks, a study published in Britain suggests that young teens from middle- to higher-income families may be more likely than their less affluent peers to use alcohol.

British researchers found that among 5,837 13-year-olds, those from the poorest families were the least likely to have tried liquor. Reuters

Move to restrict menthol cigarettes

Use of menthol cigarettes is rising among American teenagers and is "very high" for minority youth, according to United States government advisers.

More than 80 per cent of black adolescent smokers and more than half of Hispanic adolescent smokers use menthol cigarettes, advisers to the US Food and Drug Administration said in a draft chapter for a report due next week. The agency will use the report to help decide whether to ban or limit menthol, or mint-flavoured, cigarettes. Reuters
