The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau and the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong have launched a job training programme for university students, Ming Pao Daily News reports. There will be 60 summer internships and another 60 one-year job opportunities, paying a monthly salary of HK$4,000. The government will provide a subsidy of HK$3.36 million if all 120 positions are filled.

Survey pegs New York as top destination  

New York is the world's best city to live in 2010 if you're a man, China Daily reports. A survey by men's website Askmen.com (www.askmen.com) ranked 29 cities across the globe based on how good they are for men to live, work and play, based on data that includes the number of vacation days, the ratio of men to women, the weather, the unemployment rate and new restaurant and club openings. Melbourne came in second, while Tokyo, Madrid and London rounded off the top five.

Greater range of jobs for foreigners in Beijing 

Jobs being offered to foreigners in Beijing are more diversified this year, Global Times reports. Li Xiaohong, an organiser of the International Talent Job Fair for Foreigners in Beijing that was held last week, says language teaching accounted for 36 per cent of the 375 positions on offer at the fair, while vacancies for technical staff, sales and marketing professionals, and administrative talent accounted for 33 per cent. Twelve per cent of the jobs were for senior managers.
