Companies face labour shortfall
Companies in the Pearl River Delta region are facing a serious shortage of migrant workers after the Spring Festival, China Daily reports. In Dongguan, some 150,000 workers are needed after the holiday, while an estimated 130,000 labourers are in demand in Zhongshan. The situation is similar in Shenzhen, where a mere 1,000 workers turned up at a career fair this week. The shortfall has been attributed to low wages at a time when businesses in the central and western mainland are beginning to offer similar salaries.
