CityU summer talk on media freedom
As part of its Summer 2011 research seminar series, the Department of Media and Communication of the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is hosting a presentation by University of Georgia's Professor Lee Becker on "Validity and Reliability of Media Freedom Measures: Elite versus Public". The talk, scheduled for June 13 from 4.30pm to 6pm at the Multimedia Laboratory on the fifth floor of the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre, will review the criteria used by "elite evaluators" from such groups as Freedom House in the United States and Reporters Without Borders in France to create a media freedom score for each country. Seminars galore at HKUSPACE open day
The University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKUSPACE) will hold its annual open day on June 11, featuring a series of seminars and on-site demonstrations, along with course consultations.
Multimedia producer Ben Tang will hold court in Cantonese on "Understanding social media to avoid PR disasters", from 2pm to 3pm at Room 310 of Admiralty Centre.
