Staff, alumni and present students at City University of Hong Kong will battle it out at next week's preliminary leg of the university's annual table tennis tournament. The competition will include singles, doubles and mixed-doubles bouts, and a special round for student-teacher teams. April 4, 7, 6.30-10.30pm. Practice makes for fluency
Planning on venturing overseas? The English-Speaking Union of Hong Kong is hosting a special talk on how local students can use their English-speaking skills when in foreign countries. According to the union, local students are unwilling to practise their English in real-life situations. The talk will reveal the difficulties contributing to this situation and strategies for overcoming it. April 4, 6.30-8.30pm. Training in the dark arts
The University of Hong Kong's (HKU) Photographic Society is offering a series of darkroom workshops this month.
