If you're looking for something different and with a history, then Spanish restaurant Casa Marcos, located at the high-end retail strip called Forbes Town Center in Fort Bonifacio, is the place for you. Casa Marcos is a revival of the old restobar established in 1945 by a Spanish chef living in Manila. When the owner returned to Spain, his most loyal patron, Ben del Rosario, took over the business until it folded in 2001.
This year the descendants of del Rosario restored the restaurant but now it's less highbrow and smaller with an area of 1,080 sq ft, seating 45, while the al fresco section accommodates 25 more. The setting inside is a quaint combination of fine dining and home-cooked meals. One of the owners, Kevin Khoe, says the focused menu is a "Filipinised" version of the original Spanish food and beverages. There are many choices - the almejas or baked clams (HK$35), the Spanish garlic shrimps gambas (HK$44), prawns thermidor (HK$91) in bechamel sauce with cheese, garlic and mushroom, and the angus ribeye ala pobre (HK$175).
The place is ideal for casual business lunches. It's at the trendy Bonifacio High Street, just 15 minutes by car from Makati.
