Guests with young children planning a stay at the Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong now have an extra option to consider. In addition to all the usual amenities expected of a four-star, 454-room hotel, they can reserve the special "toy suite".
It is tailored to the needs of parents travelling with children and is just one of several family-friendly initiatives introduced to make their stay more enjoyable.
As the hotel's public-relations manager Stewart Chen explains, the suite is not only packed with toys, but also has a DVD player with a wide selection of cartoons, and a Wii entertainment system that most people find hard to resist.
Adding an extra welcoming touch, children under 12 can choose a free gift from a basket of toys when checking in.
Chen explains that these innovations are just part of a new year-round campaign to meet the needs of "family type" travellers, whose numbers are steadily increasing.
The hotel is also offering a 340-square-foot quad room designed for two adults and two children, and provides a 15-minute shuttle service to Ocean Park from Fridays to Sundays.
A special promotion means that entry tickets bought through the hotel's concierge come with a park coupon valued at HK$200 and will allow access for two consecutive days.
Taking care of practicalities, there is a 24-hour babysitting service to make life that bit easier for parents. And hotel staff can also lay on in-room goodie baskets - including milk, juice, cookies, and nutri-boost yoghurt - put together with children's tastes and nutritional needs in mind.
