Home to more than three million English-language articles alone, Wikipedia may be the largest collaborative body of work ever.
And, while the accuracy of its user-contributed entries is occasionally called into question, the site remains a handy reference tool.
As for conducting Wiki searches on the go, however, the vast majority of apps on offer are far from impressive. But Articles from Sophia Teutschler offers all the utility of the popular website, complete with snappy loading times and an intuitive user interface.
The purpose-driven design shines through from the very get-go, with suggested results popping up the second you begin to type in your search. Results can be viewed in either content or title mode, allowing you to switch between more and less detail.
A language button lets you switch between article databases. Of the dozen or so archives on offer, the English collection is still the largest, but the Chinese stock - at more than 250,000 - is also impressive.
The article-viewing screen includes a navigation bar and the option to create additional tabs, similar to how you would on Safari.
The page rendering also far surpasses the competition, and the article images, each of which can be opened up in separate windows, are as clear as day.
