As with most software upgrades, the bulk of improvements in the latest version of Instapaper largely relate to internal programming glitches. The near-flawless degree of functionality that has since ensued, however, definitely makes it well worth a look.
For those unfamiliar with the app, Instapaper - at its core - is designed to help you save Web pages in the "cloud" for later viewing, be it on your computer or mobile device. To this end, the popular software now performs with even greater stability, and a degree of polish that few developers have managed to replicate.
The improved functionality is particularly apparent in the much-talked-about "tilt" view, a neat feature that allows you to scroll through blocks of text by angling your device up and down.
The various subsidiary elements are equally seamless in their operation. This includes the "Editor's Picks" tab, a frequently updated list of articles recommended by Instapaper, and the handy "Friends" tab, a live collection of items compiled by your acquaintances and colleagues.
The present version also includes full integration with several dictionary services, further enhancing its built-in "define-a-word" feature. You'll be hard-pressed to find anything close to an alternative. Rick Gangwani
