Remembering a password is easy - when you only need one. But with all the ID-theft horror stories circulating, relying on a single PIN for all your accounts is a security strategy for only the bravest - or the most careless.
Thanks to an application from Zetetic, adopting this once-foolhardy approach is now a viable option. It works by storing all your PINs in a centralised, secure database - the operative word being "secure". For unlike the Excel files that many of us rely on for password storage, the application boasts 256-bit AES encryption and a host of other sophisticated security credentials.
Accessing the app requires the use of a master password. Once inside, individual codes and logins are placed in customisable categories, with each displayed in a list format similar to that of the iPhone or iPad interface.
In addition to keeping your passwords safe, the app also allows for the storage of usernames, phone numbers, e-mail addresses and website links, which are loadable from within the programme.
Most notably, the application also offers the option of pairing with Zetetic's complimentary StripSync desktop software, giving you full database access across both desktop and mobile devices.
